Record the unopened shipment
Photograph package IDs and visible transport damage. Count packages against the shipping documents. If a package is damaged or wet, record the condition and notify the responsible parties promptly under the agreed delivery arrangements.
Check identity and condition
Match accessible parts to the packing list and drawing schedule. Follow the agreed inspection plan for dimensions, finish and workmanship. Keep protective materials in place where practical, removing them only as needed and in accordance with supplier instructions.
Separate acceptance from issue resolution
Record discrepancies by part mark and hold affected items from installation until the response is agreed. Do not mix rejected, uninspected and accepted parts in one storage stack. Keep correspondence and corrective-action evidence with the receiving record.

| Arrival | Package count and external condition. |
| Inspection | Part identity and agreed quality checks. |
| Disposition | Accepted, held or awaiting review. |
Put the detail to work.
A panel arrives with a damaged corner and is urgently needed on site. Document the condition and keep the part identified before anyone attempts repair or installation. Notify the responsible parties under the delivery agreement and obtain a disposition. Installing it immediately may make the original condition harder to assess and can leave an unresolved issue hidden behind later finishes.
Before you enquire
- Use the released order documents.
- Document before repair or modification.
- Keep affected parts identifiable and protected.
