Identify the risks around the panel
List cutting, drilling, cement work, painting and other operations near the installed component. Agree how exposed surfaces will be covered and who may remove the protection. Keep installation marks on approved removable labels rather than the decorative face.
Follow the film supplier limits
Ask for the permitted storage conditions and removal period for the protective film used on the order. Do not assume that every film tolerates outdoor exposure or prolonged heat. If film is damaged or moisture is trapped, seek instructions rather than simply adding another layer.
Inspect at a defined handover
Agree a point when protection is removed and the surface is jointly reviewed. Record existing damage by part mark before later trades take over. Keep replacement and cleaning decisions tied to the approved finish system.
| Decision | Put this in writing |
|---|---|
| Protection | Agree covering and compatible temporary materials. |
| Responsibility | Name who controls removal and reinstatement. |
| Handover | Record the surface condition at transfer. |
Put the detail to work.
Decorative panels are installed before nearby ceiling cutting is complete. Agree how the panels will be protected and who will inspect them when that work ends. Record their condition at the transfer between trades. If protection is removed for another operation, document when it is reinstated. This makes later damage review more reliable than arguing from the assumption that every installed panel remained untouched.
Before you enquire
- Protect against adjacent trade debris.
- Keep film instructions with delivery records.
- Avoid unapproved tapes on visible faces.
