Prepare before delivery
Check the dimensions and weight information supplied with the shipment and arrange appropriate handling equipment and trained personnel. Keep the receiving area clear of operations that generate metal dust or abrasive debris. Do not improvise a lifting method from a catalogue photograph.
Protect without hiding problems
Inspect the outside of the package before opening and photograph damage with the package ID. Follow the supplier instructions for unpacking and support. If moisture or damage is found, document it promptly and agree the response rather than storing the package unchanged.
Keep the installation order visible
Store parts with accessible identification and a record of their intended location. Avoid repeatedly opening and repacking the same matching set to find one component. Keep finish references and spare panels separate from items already released for installation.
| Decision | Put this in writing |
|---|---|
| Receiving | Prepare space, equipment and identification. |
| Storage | Follow support and environmental instructions. |
| Sequence | Make part IDs and installation groups accessible. |
Put the detail to work.
The installation team needs panels from the bottom of several packages first. Review the packing sequence before dispatch and ask whether grouping by installation area is practical. If rehandling is unavoidable, agree how surfaces will remain separated and identified. A clear package-to-part list reduces unnecessary opening and movement, while the actual lifting and support arrangement remains the responsibility of competent personnel.
Before you enquire
- Photograph package condition before opening.
- Keep material away from contamination sources.
- Record any re-packing or movement of parts.
