Draw the exposed faces
A profile may show a narrow front face and a deeper return. Mark both on the cross-section and identify which must match the panel. Add dimensions and corner details; a product name such as U-channel is not a complete profile specification.
Approve the joint detail
Place the proposed trim against the actual panel sample. Check the shadow line and whether a change in reflection is intentional. A mismatch that disappears when samples lie flat may become obvious when the trim turns through a corner.
Coordinate purchasing responsibility
Use one finish schedule across separate purchase orders. Record who approves the matching set and which sample is controlling. If different suppliers are involved, distribute the same physical references rather than expecting identical colour names to produce the same result.
| Decision | Put this in writing |
|---|---|
| Profile | Show the cross-section and exposed faces. |
| Finish | Identify texture direction and control sample. |
| Joint | Review the trim and panel as an assembly. |
Put the detail to work.
A panel supplier and a trim supplier each receive a request for champagne hairline. Give both the same approved reference and show the assembly detail. Review the formed trim against the panel before ordering. If the two supply routes cannot achieve the required relationship, clarify the acceptable alternative or coordinate sourcing. Matching names alone should never be the sole evidence that the installed pair will look consistent.
Before you enquire
- Label front and return faces.
- Issue a shared finish schedule.
- Approve a corner before production.
