Mark principal viewing directions
Identify entrances, seating areas and the main approach to the column. Show the proposed seam on the plan. A joint that is unobtrusive from one direction may be the first detail seen from another.
Coordinate vertical and horizontal breaks
State whether the cover is supplied in multiple height sections and how those joints relate to nearby wall panels or ceiling details. Include base and head conditions. Do not assume that a full-height visual concept can be made or transported as one piece.
Keep the geometry traceable
Give each segment a mark and record its installed position. Include the required finish orientation and a method for identifying adjoining segments. Ask the fabricator to review assembly and handling before the final segment arrangement is released.
| Decision | Put this in writing |
|---|---|
| Plan | Show seam position and viewing direction. |
| Elevation | Locate height joints, base and head details. |
| Schedule | Identify segments and installation order. |
Put the detail to work.
A proposed vertical seam faces the main entrance because the column plan was issued without viewing directions. Mark the preferred seam location and review it against support and installation constraints. If the seam must move, approve the revised position before manufacture. Keep segment identifiers tied to the plan so a correct set of parts is not assembled in an unintended orientation.
Before you enquire
- Review seams in the actual lighting concept.
- Confirm access for installation.
- Approve segment matching and identification.
