Show the surrounding construction
Include adjacent material thicknesses and the intended finished faces. Mark access requirements and any components installed by another trade. Do not provide an isolated metal profile when its fit depends on joinery or glazing dimensions.
Resolve visible details
Record joints, corners, grain direction and the finish reference. Where branding artwork is involved, keep the approved artwork revision with the fabrication drawing. Ask for a sample of difficult transitions or repeated details before bulk manufacture.
Control site changes
If the receiving construction changes, issue a marked revision and identify affected parts. Ask whether production has started before approving alterations. Keep final as-supplied drawings and spare-piece references available for future store maintenance.
| Decision | Put this in writing |
|---|---|
| Interfaces | Show joinery, glazing and service relationships. |
| Appearance | Coordinate visible edges and finish direction. |
| Revision | Track changes through production and handover. |
Put the detail to work.
A joinery dimension changes after the metal trim has been detailed. Mark the affected interface and request a coordinated review before manufacturing either component. Decide which finished dimension controls the fit and update both drawings. Do not rely on site trimming to absorb the difference unless the approved detail and supplied finish explicitly allow that operation.
Before you enquire
- Identify who supplies each interface component.
- Approve repeated details early.
- Retain final drawings after installation.
